Left to Right: Shane Twaddle (Winner), Lee Devine (Sponsor) and Kyle Brown (Runner Up)

The first ADPL Challenge Trophy took place recently. There was a smaller entry than usual but none the less the field was packed with an array of talented players from throughout the county.

The winner was Shane Twaddle, he defeated Kyle Brown in the final by five frames to two. Both players played fantastically well throughout the day and both kept momentum going to share the first four frames. From there though, Shane pulled away and potted the winning black to secure his second local title, adding to his Grassroots win in

For Kyle, this was his first final in a major competition and he can be very proud of his efforts on the day, just running out of steam in the final. Well done.

Thanks go to Lee Devine of the Cliffburn Hotel who sponsored the event, supplying top drawer playing conditions! The staff kept the players fed and watered all day and thanks to them too.

Congratulations to Newgate A (Gareth Ruxton, Kent Mitchell, Rikki McWalter and Chris Smith), who are this years 4-Man Team Champions.  They overcame a very good Shotz 3 team, Michael Emslie, James Curran, Peem Twaddle and Craig Sandford, in the final by three frames to one.

Both teams played the match in the spirit that the 4-Man team brings out, both teams enjoying the occasion and having a laugh during it.  Well done to both teams.

A mention for Team Brown who were the plate winners this year, beating Shotz 2A on penalties.

Thanks go to everyone at Shotz for their continued sponsoring of the event and hosting!

2018 CLIFFBURN SINGLES

News Images: 2018_cliffburn_singles_finalists_1_-_resized.jpg

Congratulations to our President, Gordon Smith who is the 2018 Cliffburn Singles Champion. Gordon beat Colin Brown in the final, by five frames to three.

A worthy champion and showed true grit and determination after falling behind 2-0, only to claw it back and lead 4-2. Colin got another frame on the board but it was short lived hope as Gordon took out a neat finish to win the title!

Thanks again to Bobby Din and his staff at the Cliffburn for their sponsorship and hospitality.

CHARITY 4-MAN TEAM
The ADPL Charity 4-Man Team will be played on Tuesday 10th April. It will be held in Shotz Pool and Snooker Hall, and the event shall start at 7pm.

The deadline for entries is Saturday 7th April, entry remains 10 per team. All entries are added to the Charity pot and will be handed over to the ADPL chosen charity.

The format will likely be similar to last years, with a straight knockout and a plate event for all first round losing teams. This guarantees at least two matches for each team. Again, it will all depend on the interest levels.

Each match will be four singles and a penalty shootout should the match be tied at 2-2.
