Re: Pageant Withdrawn from League
Members, Please be advised that The Pageant, regrettably, and very unfortunately advised the league yesterday that they are withdrawing with immediate effect. In this instance all fixture scheduled to be played against them will now be shown as a bye week. This will apply to all teams, sorry Letham, but your week one score line will now be void and removed. The fixture list has been updated to reflect this. Regards, Michael

Re: 2022-23 Fixtures
2022-23 Fixtures The fixtures for the 2022-23 Season are now published and can be viewed using the link on the left hand side of the website. For reference, you can also use this link: http://arbroath.scottishpool.com/viewpage.php?page_id=10 Some teams may have a successive number of games home or away, but please be assured everyone has either eight or nine home games each, with 17 fixtures this is the fairest outcome. On occasion, venues with more than one team may also have them both at home or away on the same night. this isn;t ideal, I'd try to get at least one of the teams at home each gameweek, but it's the way things have fallen this year. The fixtures, at the split, will be published as soon as possible after the final fixtures on 7th February. League Split As per last year, the division will split in February, with the top eight teams contesting division one, the lower ten teams contesting division two. When we reach the split, teams tied on points will be separated on their head to head result, if this was a draw, then teams will be separated by the number of wins they've had. Should teams still be tied, then the matter will be reviewed further. Regards, Bash

Re: ADPL Scotch Doubles Playing Format
An update and clarification, rule 5 has been amended to make things much more clearer. For information, the lag is not deemed a shot - the first shot taken in each frame is the break shot. Rule 5 is merely to suggest the player that lags, and wins it, is expected to take the break shot, or pass over the opportunity to their opponents if they wish to do so.

Re: ADPL Scotch Doubles Playing Format
Arbroath and District Pool League Scotch Doubles Playing Rules Scotch Doubles has been agreed to be the playing format for the league doubles from season 2022/23. We will now play eight singles frames, followed by four ‘Scotch’ Doubles. Scotch Doubles are invariably different from our traditional doubles. When a team commences their visit, each player will now take one shot alternating during the visit. Rather than one visit each. Some of the key changes to be aware of: 1. Any of the two players in each double can take the first shot of the frame. Players then alternate shots during that visit until it is complete. 2. When returning to the table for a second (or more) visit, the playing order is important. Please remember who played the last shot of the last visit of your pairing. 3. Players playing out of turn will results in a foul. If this is to happen, it will likely be mid-frame during visits. The opposing team will be awarded one free visit followed by one free shot (two shots). It is the responsibility of each double to ensure they play in the correct playing order. 4. Players are free to talk at any stage of the frame. Please be reminded that there is a one-minute shot clock that can be implemented by the referee. It would be considered good etiquette for this to be agreed with both Captains. 5. The player that presents themselves at the table for the lag and wins, subsequently opting to break, will take the break shot. The player that wins the lag can also pass over the break to their opponents if they wish. The break shot is deemed the first shot of each frame and shots alternate from this point forward. 6. Playing rules etc remain as per. i.e. Lag, Break, Selection of Colours, Fouls etc It is inevitable that some anomalies will arise during the course of the season, please contact me directly if you require any guidance/assistance. Regards, Bash

Re: 2022-23 League Format and Start Date
SEASON 2022-23 FORMAT We have 18 teams that have registered for the 2022-23 Season. In similar fashion to last season, the format will follow last season's So; We will commence with ONE division where all teams will play each other once. When these fixtures have been completed, the league will then SPLIT into TWO Divisions. Division 1 will have 8 teams. Division 2 will have 10 teams. Teams in each division will then play each other once more to complete their seasons. Fixtures These will be randomly allocated and every effort will be made to ensure each team has an equal balance of home and away fixtures during the first stage. Remember you will only play each team once during this stage. Fixtures post-split will be drawn up as soon as possible, but given the complexity of these it may be that you play a team twice in their own venue. I will endeavor to ensure this doesn’t happen but this will ultimately be driven by the teams in each division and the previous fixtures. Start Date Tuesday 27th September 2022, at 8pm. If you have any questions please just ask away. Week 1 Fixtures LEGION 2 v CLIFFBURN 1 PORTCULLIS 1 v LEGION 1 PAGEANT v LETHAM NEWGATE 2 v PORTCULLIS 2 SHOTZ v SHOTZ 2 MERCHANTS v SPIDERS WEB ST TAMS v STATION RAM'S HEID v BUICKS CLIFFBURN 2 v NEWGATE 1

Re: ADPL AGM 2022/23
Proposals received (19/07/2022 at 22:30hrs) Proposal 1 – Singles and Doubles Format Review for Playing Dates I propose for your consideration that the Arbroath Singles and Doubles ties be venue drawn as per usual but then matches of that venue also be drawn at the same time, and a cut off date given to play these matches when published ie like the IM qualifiers. This should hopefully reduce the number of 'no-shows' which has been rife for years and allow players (like myself) who work away, ample time to organise these matches, to save having to gives bye's because usually it's one date I can't make on the calendar. I can't see any Publicans being overly fussed about venue's not being used for qualifiers as most I assume would play at Shotz but even then you could make it so you had to play at that venue. Gareth Ruxton Proposal 2 – Players Entering Events I propose for your consideration that some sort of rule be in place, or like general etiquette footnotes on the tournament draws posts with regards to playing Pool qualifiers whether it's doubles or singles etc. Something along the lines of 'please do not play your match if you know you are not going to be available for ANY future rounds' I know this is a given for most players but has been well talked about with recent events, and I think this would clarify what should be done if unavailable in future rounds to those who are unsure. Gareth Ruxton Proposal 3 – Individual Players Participation in ADPL Singles & Doubles I propose for your consideration that Marc and Ryan Fleming be allowed to participate in the Arbroath Singles and Doubles tournaments. Marc and Ryan have brought a lot to the table(excuse the pun) with regards to pool in Arbroath as we all know, and I know there's a rule about players from a different IM area, or something similar, that are not allowed to play our local events but I think an exception should be made to allow them to compete, i for one think they deserve a chance, i'd hate drawing them thats for sure but also if i did I'd love the chance to try and knock them out of these competitions and I'm sure there's a few others who would relish this too. Gareth Ruxton Proposal 4 – Players Participation in All ADPL Events 1 I propose that , regardless of where someone represents in the respect of IMs and Super League , that they may play in all individuals competitions within the ADPL. So long as they have played in and supported the league for a certain amount of years, say 5 years (as a minimum period of allegiance to the league) and it can even be enforced that players must play a minimum amount of matches / percentage of the fixtures to merit inclusion, to save any ‘part-timers’ intruding which I believe was previously a worry. In summary, anyone who has supported the ADPL league for a set number of years and has participated regularly in the league throughout the season, is allowed to take part in all ADPL individual competitions: League Singles, League Doubles, Shotz Singles, Cliffy Singles, Porty Singles, Grassroot events (where applicable) and any others that I may have missed. Marc Fleming Proposal 5 – Over 50’s Tournament Over 50’s Tournament Ronnie Edwards Proposal 6 – Playing Scotch Doubles in ADPL I would like to propose the change in league doubles so that Scotch Doubles is introduced this season instead of the doubles we currently play. Scotch Doubles is played in a few other leagues and would result in quicker matches and a more even playing field across matches. Steve Reid Proposal 7 – Format of Picking Players in League Matches I would like to propose that we have a trial in the new season to pick the player's blind. I have spoken to some people about this, and they have shown that they think it takes the advantage away from the away team, but when they have the reverse fixture, it evens itself out. We use this method in the Brechin league, and it works well and makes the game more exciting. The other point which has been brought up before about making the doubles into Scottish doubles. Again, we tried this in the Brechin league this last season and it was great worked well. Billy Girdwood Proposal 8 – Signing in at Finals Day My proposal is for an agreed sign-in. say 11:30 noon with an hour caveat to say 12:30pm is the maximum cut-off. After that, no-one can play. This is after all, our premium showcase finals days and well publicised in advance so players should be able to re-arrange any work routines etc., around that. I agree this is different for singles events, players being given the odd exception of a later start provided the draw is not held up in any way. Steve Webster Proposal 9 – Players Participation in All ADPL Events 2 I would like to propose a change to the rule regards ADPL members who play Superleague/IM’s for a different area not being allowed to enter the league Singles, Doubles and one day competitions. As it stands at the moment any ADPL members who fall under this category are not allowed to enter these. I would like to see this rule scrapped and allow these members to compete the same as any other league member. Thank you Connor Hunter
