ANNNNND THE NEW…..ADPL Doubles Champions are...............David Jack and Greg Alexander.
A formidable pairing that just seem to love winning this trophy. Three finals on the bounce, two out of three wins and a total of three titles together over the past few years!
Well done lads.
Their worthy opponents today were Alex Cargill and Steve Hallam. Both of whom played some fantastic pool over the course of the day, going toe to toe in the final for the first four frames; it was just one match too far against stellar opponents.
Great effort lads.
Thanks to Marc Fleming at today’s hosts, Shotz; for the excellent playi my conditions and sponsorship. Also thank to his bar staff too.
During the closing presentation, I had failed to mention the running of today was largely done by our own Chicken Little (Scott MacEwan) along with DL (Brian Craig). Give yourselves a big pat on the back!
Now….lets get the calendar of events dusted down and see what our next event will be!
ADPL Doubles Champions for 2023-24, David Jack and Greg Alexander.
All the best,
Basho

A reminder of the details of the event can be found below:
The event will be held on Saturday 27th January at Shotz Pool and Snooker Hall, Arbroath. Players must be registered to the ADPL to play in this event.
As per the agreement for this to be implemented, the playing format will be a round-robin group stage; playing races to 2 frames. Group winners and runners up will qualify for the last 16 knockouts which will commence immediately following completion of the group stages.
The group stage will play out to determine the Last 16, where the event shall become a knockout stage with matches best of five frames.
A reminder that doubles in the ADPL are played to the 'scotch doubles' format, with a stop clock on the day for matches that may be taking longer than expected.
The draw for Saturday's ADPL Doubles will take place tonight (Tuesday, 23rd January) upon completion of the league matches.
The venue will be either Station or Newgate, depending which match finishes first.
The format for Saturday, as per the AGM Proposals, will be a group phase to being. We will have eight groups of four, and each group will have two qualifiers into the Last 16 stage, where the event will be randomly drawn and become straight knockout.
The group stage will likely be races to two. Two points for each group win. Teams tied on points will separated on their head to head record.
Regards,
Bash

The ADPL can announce that entries are now being taken for this season's flagship Doubles event. The entry fee, as agreed at the recent AGM, will be £10 per double.
The deadline for entries for this competition is Friday 19th January at 7.00pm. All entries must be handed into Shotz Pool and Snooker Hall on the appropriate forms for the attention of the Match Secretary or Treasurer, or handed to them in person. If Captains are dropping their entries into Shotz Pool and Snooker Hall please send the Match Secretary a text to confirm you have done so.
The event will be held on Saturday 27th January at Shotz Pool and Snooker Hall, Arbroath. Players must be registered to the ADPL to play in this event.
As per the agreement for this to be implemented, the playing format will be a round-robin group stage; playing races best of, potentially, three frames in each match. This will be dependent on entry levels and the number of groups will also be determined by this. Group winners will be joined by the best placed teams in second. Teams will be separated by frames won then frames conceded, any teams tied after this will have to face a sudden death playoff.
The group stage will play out to determine the Last 16, where the event shall become a knockout stage with matches best of five frames.
A reminder that doubles in the ADPL are played to the 'scotch doubles' format, with a stop clock on the day for matches that may be taking longer than expected.

All,
We had 40 entries for this years ADPL Doubles. Thank you to all of the players that have entered and good luck.
The draw was carried out earlier this week at our Committee Meeting.
With 40 entries we have all 40 teams drawn out at various venues, each venue will provide two qualifiers. We have four venues with four teams, where each team will play one match only. We also have four venues with six teams, where two prelim matches will be required. The venues with 6 teams have been selected as they have two tables which will assist with the running order on the night.
The qualifiers from this round will move into the Last 16.
