Firstly, thanks are extended to all of the players who managed along yesterday for the much anticipated return of ADPL singles competition pool.
An almost two year enforced sabbatical and, for some, you’d think they’d never been away from the table! For others, it was a welcome return to get some table time. With an array of talent on show, we had an abundance of high calibre matches throughout the day.
Some things have changed over the past couple of years; but some things just haven’t! Our last competitive finalists (Legion 2020) were also our first post Covid! Two great friends, Graham Dunbar and David Jack, showcasing their ability again.
It’s a clichè, but there’s no other way to say it, the two best players yesterday reached the final.
However, it was the excellent and very in-form Graham who took the title home! The match was all square at 3-3 and Graham managed to nudge himself in front and then clinch the title with a 5-3 win. Graham adds this title to his recent Tayside Tour win along with the Tayside Doubles, with his partner David Jack!
Congratulation Graham. Shotz Singles Champion 2021! You are certainly the player to beat at the moment.
Lastly, and by no means least, our thanks go to yesterday’s hosts, Shotz and their dedicated bar staff who kept everyone watered all day.
